Care & Healing
Seniors
Singing brightens up everyone's day. Using the diaphragm (the breathing & singing muscle) lengthens the breathing and brings up a feeling of well being. Breathing together as a communityh connects us.
We all have the need to feel that we belong. Music connects us and helps build compassionate, cooperative empathy for other people. We all need companionship and close contact. We all need to be attached and accepted.
"Music is no luxury but a necessity for virtually all of us. Music has great power. It is manifest and central in every culture, and lies so deep in human nature that one must think of it as innate."
~ Oliver Sacks from Musicophilia (Knopf)"Seniors involved in music and arts programs, have better memory, fewer visits to the doctor, fewer eye problems, less incidents of depression, less need for medication, and fewer falls and other injuries."
~ Source Unknown"Studies have linked singing with a lower heart rate, decreased blood pressure and reduced stress. This ancient art not only feels good, it can also enhance your well being, reduce your feelings of pain and even prolong your life."

Using music and song to accomplish these ends can be done 1 on 1 or with any size of group.
Doug consistently delivers a fantastic performance combining great singing with a great playlist of songs that each of our residents can connect with and sing along. Doug is very humorous and has a very natural ability to connect with each of the resident’s he plays for making them all a part of the performance! Mike Activity Worker, Kiwanis Pavilion |
